We caught up with Pegg within the Greenpeace Discipline at Glasto to listen to why eco-consciousness has turn out to be so integral to the Pilton occasion.

Hey Simon, how are you having fun with Glastonbury?

“Whats up, I’m very properly! We had a girls day yesterday: Moist Leg, Wolf Alice, Phoebe Bridgers – after which we noticed Billie Eilish. I’m right here with my 13-year-old daughter who has nice music style and she or he’s been displaying me some stuff.”

Sounds nice! We’re right here within the Greenpeace Discipline, and also you’re an envoy for Greenpeace. Inform me what’s occurring…

“Effectively, that is mainly Greenpeace’s centre of operations at Glastonbury. It’s a spot the place you may come and be taught what they do and take part within the trigger. I believe Glastonbury is, in lots of respects, totally about what Greenpeace believes in. It’s about activism and understanding that the private is political, that you would be able to really make a distinction. One of many massive issues right here in the meanwhile is that there’s no single-use plastic bottles, which makes an enormous distinction cos you simply don’t see them on the ground anymore.”

And, in fact, Energy Ballad Yoga…

“Energy Ballad Yoga. Haven’t heard of it. Wanna do it.”

Have you ever tried to get Tom Cruise right down to Worthy Farm?

“He must put on a heavy disguise as a result of persons are clearly all the time happy to see him. It could be a troublesome problem for him, though I’m certain he would cope with it.”

How would he deal with the long-drop bogs?

“He’d convey his personal rest room.”

Your daughter has really headlined Glastonbury, hasn’t she?

“She did! On her first Glastonbury she sang backing vocals with Coldplay. Chris Martin is an outdated, outdated pal and [my daughter] Tilly’s godfather. He invited her up on stage along with his youngsters and their pal to sing the backing vocals on ‘Up&Up’ [in 2016]. I used to be an extremely proud dad that day.”

You have been aspect of stage with Jay-Z, Beyoncé and Gwyneth Paltrow…

“All my associates.”

Did you get to speak to them?

“Not likely. I did go to Disneyland with Jay-Z lately. I don’t know him that properly however he’s associates with Chris [Martin] and we’ve met a few instances. He’s a very candy man. He’s a dad too. We have been all being instructed to go on the rollercoasters by our youngsters who’re braver than we’re.”

Who’s probably the most enjoyable celeb you’ve spent Glasto with?

“I’ve been capable of go backstage just a few instances right here with Coldplay by way of understanding Chris. However it’s extra enjoyable to be out and having fun with the pageant. You get a bizarre indifferent model of the pageant [when you’re backstage]. Having stated that, I’m not tenting, I’m staying in a resort close by. I’m 52 and I shouldn’t need to sleep on a plastic sheet. That doesn’t occur till I’m 70! Even glamping I can’t do. I need room service and clear sheets on daily basis.”

And also you don’t wish to be accosted by followers within the bathe queue whilst you’re in your towel…

“Precisely, though that also occurs with my household.”
